Intrepid cyclists Barry Canner and Stuart Beckett put their foot down to enjoy a ride on this newly-revamped bridge.

The pair were the very first riders to use Five Mile Bridge which has just undergone a £200,000 revamp.

The bridge, so-called because it is five miles from Lincoln, is part of a project to create a 33-mile cycle route from the city to Boston.

This bridge links Washingborough to Fiskerton. British Waterways, the Environment Agency and Lincolnshire County Council are part of Lincolnshire Waterways Partnership, which paid for the revamp.

British Waterways spokesman Simon Hopkinson said: “The total route is 33 miles and we are as far along as Bardney. Hopefully this is something that is going to be well used.”
