STOCKS SURVIVE WATER

Supplies have escaped harm at a convenience store even though water flooded the stock room.

Rachel Rousseau (37) and her husband Steve (37) were up at 6am to try to combat knee-deep water at Wishing Well Stores – their family business on Ferry Road, Fiskerton, near Lincoln, yesterday.

“It’s hard to assess what the damage is until it has died out,” said Mrs Rousseau.

“Luckily it has not actually come into the shop, we have stopped it so far.”

Their stocks were saved but deliveries to the store have been impossible because of flooding on the roads outside.

Mrs Rousseau said although the rain had caused most of the flooding, their shop was a victim of insufficient drainage.

“Our drainage system is taking it away but it cannot cope with water from other people,” she said
