Dad gets unpaid work order

A DAD-of-two who stole building materials from a partially-renovated house has been told to carry out 60 hours of unpaid work.

Janos Stepniewski, appeared before city magistrates yesterday and admitted stealing a wall prop and pole, a water cylinder and a quantity of copper piping from a property in Fulbeck Road in Leadenham, in June.

Prosecutor Simon Rowe told the court the 34-year-old was spotted by neighbours of the property removing the materials, worth around £500, and taking them to a white transit van along with another male.

Justin Atkinson, defending, said Stepniewski had recently begun a business specialising in home and garden clearances and that he had been “intimidated” in to stealing the goods by associates of his business partner, who were members of the “travelling community”.

Magistrates handed Stepniewski, of High Meadows in Fiskerton, Lincoln, a 12-week community order and instructed him to carry out 60 hours of unpaid work
