NEW HALL GETS LOTTO GRANT CASH

Villagers are celebrating after plans to build a new community centre were unveiled.

The village hall in Fiskerton, near Lincoln, will be built to replace one that burned down more than two years ago.

A £175,000 grant has been approved from the Big Lottery Fund to rebuild the hall.

It will be a base for several groups including luncheon and computer clubs, keep fit, crafts and sports classes.

Outreach and information services will also use the hall.

Andrew Cooke, chairman of the village hall committee, said that everyone was delighted with the grant.

“This really is the most wonderful news. A lot of people have worked awfully hard to get the project to this point,” he said.

“Two years ago the heart of the village was ripped out by that terrible fire.

“This grant will enable the village hall committee to provide a new, modern building for the community.

“We hope it will provide a wonderful facility for local people to meet together.

“The new hall will not simply replace the old one, it will be a building that has been designed to suit the needs of a community in the 21st century.”
